DIY safety
Crafting involves tools and materials that can cause injury or damage if used carelessly. When following any project on this site:
- Read and follow the manufacturer’s instructions and safety warnings for every tool, glue, paint, sealant, wax and electrical item you use.
- Hot glue guns, craft knives, saws, irons, ovens and candle wax can cause burns and cuts. Work carefully and keep them away from children.
- Use paints, sprays, resin and adhesives in a well-ventilated area, and wear gloves, eye protection or a mask where the product label recommends it.
- Never leave burning candles unattended, and keep candles, string lights and decorations away from curtains, dried foliage and other flammable materials. Use only lights rated for outdoor use outside.
- Check that decorations and wreaths are secure before hanging them, especially on doors, staircases and mantels.
- Seasonal decorations made with dried plants, berries or small parts may be harmful to pets and young children.
Kids crafts
Kids’ projects are intended to be done with adult supervision. Small items such as beads, buttons, pom-poms and googly eyes are a choking hazard for children under three. Use age-appropriate, non-toxic supplies, and handle all heat tools and sharp tools yourself.
Results may vary
Your finished project may look different from ours depending on your materials, tools, skill and the time you spend. Time and difficulty ratings are estimates for a typical beginner.
Prices and availability
Cost estimates are approximate and based on prices at the time of writing. Store prices, including Dollar Tree and other dollar and craft stores, change over time and vary by location, and products may be discontinued or out of stock.
Selling your crafts
Posts about crafts to sell are general ideas, not business, legal or tax advice. We do not promise any income. Before selling, check local rules on selling handmade goods, sales tax and product safety, and do not sell items that use trademarked characters, logos or licensed fabric without permission.
